Lester Rodríguez is a conceptual artist who emphasizes violence in our society, and the social and political implications of migration and territoriality. The violence takes many forms, not only the typical physical form we are used to, but also in the manipulation of political communication. His artworks refer to the fact that we are subject to the effects of territory and the idea of territoriality. 3,180 KM, made up of toothpicks, represents the length of the border between the U.S. and Mexico. It is considered to be one of the most dangerous frontiers which presents itself as a wall both ideologically and physically. The provision of this number is a concrete abstraction of the concept of boundary marked in the social imaginary of the subcontinent's migrant societies.
